Brown Pelican

Size: 0.5"H x 0.5"W
SKU: ES15-C
Pelicans are often thought of as clumsy or ungainly; actually they are graceful fliers and strong swimmers. The brown pelican, the smallest species, is a sea bird that dwells in the coastal waters. Their curiously enormous beak is not used for storing food but rather as a large dip net for catching fish. The brown pelican is endangered because their breeding grounds have been infringed upon by man, and because of a high mortality rate among infant hatchlings.
