The Steampunk genre originated back in the 1980's and early 1990's and its popularity is surging. It incorporates elements of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and speculative fiction. The essential setting of Steampunk is in times reliant on steam power, typically an alternate reality of a Victorian era Britain, or the US's Wild West. Works of Steampunk are often feature futuristic innovations based on a Victorian perpective of fashion, culture, architectural style and art. The technology includes fictional machines such as those found in the the works of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne, as well as elements and ideas from inventor Nikola Tesla.
